Our Community Advocacy Programme is designed to empower and uplift mining-affected communities through strategic representation, education, and support. At the core of this initiative is our active participation in Mining Forums, where we ensure that the voices of community members are heard and their concerns are effectively communicated to stakeholders. We advocate for transparency, accountability, and sustainable development practices within the mining sector, helping communities navigate complex regulatory environments while pushing for fair and inclusive decision-making processes.
Environmental impact monitoring is another critical component of our programme. We work alongside community members to track, report, and raise awareness of environmental degradation caused by mining activities. By providing training and technical support, we equip local residents with the tools they need to collect data and engage with environmental assessments meaningfully. This is complemented by our monitoring of Social and Labour Plans (SLPs) and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) commitments, ensuring that promised benefits such as job creation, infrastructure, and social development projects are delivered in a transparent and accountable manner.
Education lies at the heart of our advocacy efforts. We offer workshops and training sessions on community rights, land use, and environmental justice, aiming to build knowledge and confidence among community members. Additionally, we offer tailored support for individuals and families directly affected by mining, including assistance with relocation, health-related issues, and access to legal resources. Through this comprehensive approach, our Community Advocacy Programme fosters informed, resilient, and mobilized communities who are equipped to advocate for their own rights and sustainable futures.
